UNESCO World Conference on Early Chilldhood Care and Education, 22-24 September, 2010

The first World Conference on Early Childhood Care and Education calls on the world’s global leadership – public, para-statal, private sector, civil society and diverse partners- to take decisive action. Now is the time to build the foundation for the wealth of nations.

UNESCO World Conference on Early Childhood Care and Education, Moscow, Russian Federation 22-24 September, 2010

Early childhood is an unrepeatable process. It is in all our best interests to enable all children to benefit from the equalizing and enabling power of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) right from the start of their lives.

In the 21st century the wealth of countries should not defined in terms of material gain alone. It depends on the extent to which countries are able to nurture their human capital with values important in a globalized world such as equality, justice, respect for diversity and for the environment and living together.

Without political will and decisive intervention, large proportions of the world’s children will continue to be denied the benefits of ECCE which in turn denies countries and regions.

The first World Conference on Early Childhood Care and Education calls on the world’s global leadership – public, para-statal, private sector, civil society and diverse partners- to take decisive action. Now is the time to build the foundation for the wealth of nations.
